According to police reports, the vehicle was backing up when the ground behind it suddenly caved in. This caused the dumper to lose balance and plunge into a 30-meter-deep ravine. The two occupants were trapped inside the wreckage, prompting immediate rescue efforts.

At the district hospital, the condition of the two victims was assessed. Satendra Aswal, aged 27, succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Dr. P S Pokhriyal, the chief medical superintendent, provided details on Aswal's fatal wounds.

"Aswal suffered a serious head injury and internal bleeding, which proved fatal despite our best efforts," Dr. Pokhriyal stated. The other occupant, Jai Ram, aged 39, sustained serious injuries and required advanced care. He was subsequently referred to a higher medical facility for specialized treatment.
