UP Police Team Attacked in Haridwar During Arrest Operation, Three Accused Held

A police team from Uttar Pradesh was violently attacked in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on Tuesday while attempting to arrest an accused in connection with a property forgery case. The incident has led to the registration of a case against eleven individuals, including the accused's son, with three arrests made so far.

Details of the Haridwar Police Attack Incident

According to police reports, the incident occurred when a team from Muzaffarnagar district arrived at Jawalapur in Haridwar to arrest the accused. Jawalapur SHO Kundan Singh Rana provided details, stating that a team of four police personnel, including a female constable, reached the Jawalapur police station to arrest Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Subhash Nagar.

Rana explained that after taking Sanjay into custody, the accused allegedly made a phone call to his son, instructing him to intercept the police. "When they were moving towards UP, Sanjay's son Ishant chased the police car and stopped them near Ranipur Jhaal on the Haridwar-Delhi highway. Ishant and his associates repeatedly rammed the police car and tried to free his father," said Rana.

Police Intervention and Legal Action

The attack continued until local Haridwar police reached the spot and intervened, allowing the UP police team to move to safety. Based on a complaint by the police, a case was registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:

  • Section 109(1) for attempt to murder
  • Section 121(1) for voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant
  • Section 132 for assault or criminal force against a public servant
  • Section 191(2) for rioting
  • Section 324(4) for mischief
  • Section 351(2) for criminal intimidation
  • Section 352 for intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace
  • Section 61(2) for criminal conspiracy

SHO Kundan Singh Rana confirmed that Ishant and his associates Shivam Malik and Aman have been arrested, while the other accused are currently absconding. The police are actively pursuing the remaining individuals involved in this brazen attack.
