UP Provincial Armed Constabulary Executes Comprehensive Security Plan for Magh Mela 2025-26

Under the direct instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the strategic guidance of Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna, the Uttar Pradesh Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) is successfully implementing an extensive security and disaster relief framework for the Magh Mela 2025-26. This large-scale operation aims to guarantee the safety, convenience, and peaceful participation of millions of devotees attending this spiritually significant event.

Structured Deployment Under Senior Supervision

The massive security deployment is being meticulously executed under the supervision of Additional Director General of Police Ramkrishna Swarnkar. On the ground, PAC nodal officer Sarvesh Kumar Mishra is leading the operational efforts. Recognizing both the spiritual importance of the Magh Mela and the anticipated massive influx of pilgrims, the PAC has adopted a carefully phased and well-planned deployment strategy across the entire mela area.

Detailed Breakdown of PAC Company Assignments

A total of 16 Provincial Armed Constabulary companies have been strategically stationed at key locations in a highly structured manner. The breakdown of duties is as follows:

  • Seven companies have been assigned primary duties for law enforcement, order maintenance, and sophisticated crowd control.
  • Seven companies are dedicated to flood relief operations and providing security in water-adjacent areas, a critical component given the mela's riverside location.
  • Two companies have been posted specifically for Government Railway Police (GRP) duties. Their role is to ensure safety and security along the rail routes and stations that are directly connected to the mela, managing the flow of pilgrim traffic.

Enhanced Security for Peak Bathing Festivals

In anticipation of the heightened sensitivity and significantly larger crowds during the main bathing festivals, the PAC command has deployed an additional five companies. This reinforcement is specifically aimed at strengthening the overall security apparatus and effectively managing the surging pilgrim populations during these peak periods.

Proactive Measures and Humanitarian Efforts

PAC personnel are maintaining constant and vigilant surveillance at all identified sensitive locations to preempt any disturbances and ensure overarching law and order. For potential emergencies, specialized flood relief teams have been placed on high alert. These teams are conducting continuous river patrols, meticulously monitoring water levels, and are prepared to execute swift rescue and relief operations at a moment's notice.

Beyond their strict security mandate, PAC jawans are also demonstrating notable humanitarian sensitivity. They are actively extending assistance, guidance, and support to pilgrims, ensuring a helpful and secure environment for all attendees. This combined approach of robust security and compassionate service defines the PAC's comprehensive role in facilitating a successful and peaceful Magh Mela.
