UP Police Chief Chairs Comprehensive Crime Review Meeting, Issues Key Directives

In a significant move to bolster law enforcement across Uttar Pradesh, Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna chaired an extensive online crime review meeting on Saturday. The session, held at the state police headquarters in Lucknow, brought together senior officers from across the state to address critical issues spanning law and order, financial management, and investigative protocols.

Three-Pronged Agenda for Enhanced Policing

The DGP meticulously reviewed three primary areas during the high-level meeting. These included preparedness for upcoming festivals, the effective utilization of the 2025-26 financial year budget, and the strengthening of investigation standards under the newly implemented criminal laws. Additionally, the discussion encompassed various other key administrative and operational matters essential for modern policing.

Proactive Security Measures for Festive Season

Emphasizing the need for proactive policing, DGP Krishna issued clear directives to ensure foolproof security arrangements for all forthcoming festivals. For Mahashivratri, officers were instructed to deploy adequate security personnel and ensure smooth traffic management at major temples, rivers, and ghats. With Holi approaching, the focus shifted to securing Holika dahan sites in advance to prevent any potential disputes or untoward incidents.

In light of the commencement of Ramzan, Krishna directed that proper security arrangements be made around mosques and along routes during prayer times. He ordered district police forces to review past communal or local disputes linked to festivals, engage in dialogue with concerned stakeholders, and resolve sensitive issues proactively to maintain harmony.

Intelligence and Preventive Action

Officers were instructed to act promptly on even the smallest intelligence input, ensure time-bound redressal of issues, and initiate preventive action wherever required. This approach aims to nip potential problems in the bud and enhance public safety during the festive period.

Financial Discipline and Budget Utilization

Reviewing the allocation for the financial year 2025-26, DGP Krishna directed all districts and units to ensure proper and timely utilization of funds sanctioned by the state government under various heads. He stressed that financial discipline and efficient spending would be closely monitored to optimize resources and support policing initiatives effectively.

Strengthening Investigation Standards Under New Laws

Krishna underlined the paramount importance of strict implementation of the newly introduced criminal laws, emphasizing that ensuring high-quality investigation remains a top priority for the force. He directed officers to strengthen capacity in digital evidence collection and preservation, recognizing the growing role of technology in modern crime-solving.

With the impending launch of CCTNS 2.0 and ICJS 2.0, all districts were asked to complete technical and procedural preparations. These advanced systems are expected to streamline crime tracking and criminal justice processes, enhancing overall efficiency and transparency in law enforcement operations across Uttar Pradesh.
