Two-Year-Old Girl Rescued from Kidnapper on Delhi-Bound Train in Dramatic Operation
In a dramatic and heart-stopping rescue, a two-year-old girl who was kidnapped from Kanpur Central station on Monday night was successfully rescued from a Delhi-bound Holi special train in Tundla. The operation involved hours of intense coordination and surveillance by multiple police teams, culminating in the safe recovery of the child and the arrest of the accused.
Details of the Kidnapping Incident
The victim, identified as Seeta, was snatched from the foot overbridge at Kanpur Central station late on Monday night. Her mother, Chanda Pandey, was sleeping alongside her children, including Seeta and her six-year-old brother Pankaj, when the incident occurred. According to police reports, the accused, Raju Dheemar from Jalaun, allegedly took Seeta while she was asleep.
Chanda Pandey had fled to Bihar from Kanpur Dehat with her children ten days earlier following a domestic dispute with her husband, Rajesh. She had returned to Kanpur Central by train with the children and, before proceeding to Kanpur Dehat, decided to rest on the foot overbridge, where the kidnapping took place.
Coordinated Police Response and Investigation
The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) immediately sprang into action upon receiving the report. Teams were formed under the leadership of Om Narayan Singh and SN Patidar, who spearheaded the investigation. The operation involved scouring footage from over 100 CCTV cameras installed at the station and surrounding areas.
Through meticulous analysis, the police were able to identify the accused boarding a Delhi-bound Holi special train with the young girl wrapped in a sheet. Alerts were promptly issued to stations from Etawah to Aligarh to track the train and the suspect.
Chase and Final Rescue in Tundla
The train departed from Etawah at 10 pm, but the accused, Raju Dheemar, continuously moved between coaches in an attempt to evade detection. He successfully avoided police checks at Shikohabad, making the operation more challenging. However, the persistence of the police teams paid off when they finally located him at Tundla station.
Seven specialized teams swooped in on the general coach of the train, where they found Raju with the two-year-old Seeta. The girl was safely recovered, and the kidnapper was taken into custody without any harm to the child.
Motives and Further Investigations
During interrogation, Raju Dheemar confessed to kidnapping Seeta to fund his drug addiction. He revealed that he had arranged to sell the girl to a beggar in Delhi for Rs 20,000. This shocking revelation has prompted police to delve deeper into Raju's criminal history and possible connections to other illicit activities.
RPF Assistant Security Commissioner Vivek Verma confirmed that the girl was safely recovered at Tundla and that the kidnapper is now in police custody. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover any additional crimes or accomplices involved in this distressing case.
