Two UP Criminals Arrested After Dehradun Encounter

Dehradun: Two alleged absconding criminals from Uttar Pradesh were arrested after an encounter with police in Dehradun's Basant Vihar area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, police said.

Details of the Arrest

Abdullah Mohammed, 37, and Shahnawaz Salmani, 39, are residents of Saharanpur. Dehradun SSP Pramendra Dobal said the two were travelling on a motorcycle without a number plate.

“When police tried to stop them at a checkpoint in Harbanswala, they opened fire and fled towards the tea estate area. Police chased them, and during the encounter, Abdullah sustained a bullet injury,” he added.

Recovery and Legal Action

Police arrested both men and took the injured man to a hospital. A country-made pistol was also recovered from their possession. An FIR has been registered under BNS sections 109 for attempt to murder and 3(5) for common intention, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act.
