Tourist from Uttar Pradesh Dies Near Dharamshala Waterfall
A 33-year-old tourist from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, was found dead near Bhagsunag waterfall in Dharamshala on Friday. Identified as Rahul, he had traveled to Dharamshala with friends for a trip and had gone trekking to Triund. According to police statements, one of his friends reported that Rahul suddenly fell ill during their return journey. Preliminary suspicions point toward a possible heart attack as the cause of death.
The discovery was made after a forest guard alerted the McLeodganj police station on Thursday about an unconscious person near the waterfall. A police team promptly arrived at the scene and transported the victim to a hospital, where doctors confirmed he had already passed away. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the exact circumstances surrounding his death.
Paroled Criminal from Haryana Found with Heroin Near River
In a separate case, Rampur Police in Shimla district recovered the body of a 34-year-old man from Haryana near the Satluj River on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Sandeep Kumar from Jakholi village in Kaithal district, was found lying on the ground with three mobile phones and approximately 22.26 grams of heroin concealed in his socks.
Police had received a tip-off about an unconscious man near the river, and CCTV footage later showed Kumar walking toward the river before slipping. Preliminary investigations indicate he was not under the influence of drugs at the time, leading authorities to suspect he may have been intending to sell the narcotics locally. Records reveal that Kumar had a criminal history in Haryana, with seven cases including theft, murder, and violations under the Arms Act. He was on a 70-day parole from January to March this year.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and his family has been notified. Further investigation is underway to determine the full details of his death and the heroin possession.
