Coimbatore Police Nab Two Nepali Nationals in Bengaluru for Murder Case
The Coimbatore city police have made significant progress in a high-profile murder investigation, arresting two Nepali nationals in Bengaluru over the weekend. The arrests are connected to the brutal killing of R Kasturi, 82, the daughter of Arya Vaidya Pharmacy (AVP) founder P V Rama Varier, whose body was discovered in her residence last Friday.
Details of the Crime and Investigation
Kasturi was found dead in her home within a gated community near Nanjundapuram, with her hands and legs tied and her mouth gagged. Preliminary investigations indicate that three individuals visited her house around 12:15 AM on Friday and departed approximately 25 minutes later. Authorities noted that a gold chain she was wearing and an undisclosed amount of cash were missing from the premises, pointing to a possible robbery motive.
An investigation officer revealed that the police had formed eight special teams to track down those involved. The breakthrough came when a special team stationed in Bengaluru apprehended Rakesh Saud, 26, on Saturday, followed by Dhilip, 26, on Sunday. Both individuals are suspected accomplices in the crime.
Link to Missing Domestic Help
The case took a turn when it was discovered that Kasturi's domestic help, Surja Rokey, 37, also a Nepali national, went missing immediately after the murder. Police suspect that Surja orchestrated the crime by enlisting her associates. According to the officer, "Surja had roped in her associates for committing the crime. They went separate ways after committing the crime. Rakesh and Dhilip are suspected accomplices."
During interrogations, Rakesh denied any knowledge of the stolen valuables or the whereabouts of others involved. In contrast, police seized some cash from Dhilip, though the exact amount has not been disclosed, as authorities declined to comment on the specifics. The process to remand both arrested individuals is currently underway.
Ongoing Efforts and Community Impact
This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting concerns about safety in gated communities. The police are continuing their investigation to locate Surja Rokey and any other potential suspects. The arrests in Bengaluru underscore the collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies across cities to address serious crimes.
As the investigation progresses, authorities are urging the public to come forward with any additional information that might aid in solving this case. The focus remains on bringing all perpetrators to justice and ensuring such tragedies are prevented in the future.
