Shocking Discovery in Balaghat Dam

The quiet village of Salebardi in Balaghat district was shaken by a tragic incident on Sunday when two bodies were recovered from Ervatola dam. The deceased have been identified as Seema Rahangdale, 40, and Prakash Rahangdale, 45, who was the elder brother of Seema's husband.

Timeline of the Tragic Incident

According to local villagers, the pair was last seen near Ervatola late on Saturday evening. When they failed to return home, concern grew among family members and neighbors. The situation took a grim turn on Sunday morning when locals discovered an abandoned motorcycle and slippers near the dam reservoir.

Upon closer inspection of the water, villagers spotted two bodies submerged in the shallow section of the reservoir. They immediately alerted the authorities from Rampayli police station, who rushed to the scene.

Police Investigation and Evidence

Station in-charge Dileep Maurya confirmed that a bottle of pesticide was found at the location where the bodies were discovered. Preliminary examination revealed no visible external injuries on either body, raising questions about the exact cause of death.

"Whether they died due to drowning or consumption of pesticide will be known only after investigation," Maurya stated, emphasizing that all possible angles are being explored, including suicide.

The discovery triggered shock waves throughout the village, drawing large crowds to the dam site. Prakash Rahangdale was employed as a supervisor with a contractor under the Nal-Jal Mission, according to local residents.

Police have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances that led to this double tragedy. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination, which is expected to provide crucial evidence about the time and cause of death.
