The deceased have been identified as Mohammed Shiab, aged 27, from Palakkad, Kerala, and Shivakumar, aged 25, a resident of Nanjangud. Both individuals were riding separate motorcycles at the time of the incident, which took place during the afternoon hours.

Chronology of the Accident

Police investigations reveal that Shivakumar had travelled from his home in Nanjangud to his wife's house in Hanugod village on his motorcycle. After his visit, he proceeded towards Gonikoppa. While returning to Hanugod, he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and collided with a car.

The impact of this initial crash set off a chain reaction. Mohammed Shiab, who was riding another motorcycle behind Shivakumar, also lost control due to the sudden collision and crashed into the same car. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while Shivakumar also died instantly from the impact.

Injuries and Aftermath

In a related development, Adinar, aged 22, who was riding pillion with Mohammed Shiab, sustained minor injuries in the accident. He is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mysuru and is reported to be in stable condition.

Mohammed Shiab had earlier offered prayers at a mosque in Gonikoppa and was heading towards the Golden Temple at Kushalnagar via Thithimathi when the tragic accident occurred, cutting short his journey.

The car driver, identified as Jayalingaswamy, a resident of Mysuru, and his co-passenger, Prajwal, have been detained by the Gonikoppa police for questioning.
