Chandigarh Police Arrest Two in Hallomajra Attempted Murder Case, Recover Weapons
Two arrested in Chandigarh attempted murder case

Chandigarh police have made significant headway in a violent case of attempted murder, arresting two individuals and seizing the weapons allegedly used in a brutal assault. The incident, which left three brothers injured, occurred in the Hallomajra area.

Violent Assault Over a Simple Request

The chain of events began on the evening of December 16 in Hallomajra. According to the official complaint filed by Raghunath Parsad, he was preparing food for a religious gathering, or langar, behind the power grid. His brothers, Ramesh and Mahinder, had come to assist him. While they were eating in an open ground around 9:30 PM, three youths arrived at high speed on an Activa scooter.

When the victims asked them to slow down, the youths reacted with unexpected aggression. An argument ensued, after which the trio left the spot. However, the confrontation was far from over.

Armed Retaliation and Injuries

The situation escalated dangerously when the youths returned shortly after, this time accompanied by two or three others. They were armed with wooden sticks, bricks, and knives. Without provocation, the group launched a vicious attack on the three brothers.

The assault resulted in serious injuries for all victims. Mahinder was stabbed in the chest with a knife, while Raghunath and Ramesh sustained multiple injuries from the other weapons. Following the attack, all three injured brothers were rushed to GMCH-32 for urgent medical treatment.

Police Investigation Leads to Arrests

The Sector 31 police station initially registered a case against unknown persons and launched a detailed investigation. Their probe led them to identify and subsequently arrest two local residents of Hallomajra: Altamas and Karan.

During the arrest, the police made a critical recovery, seizing two knives believed to be the weapons used in the crime. The accused were presented before a local court, which ordered them to be placed in judicial custody.

Further investigation by the police revealed a troubling criminal history. Both accused had previously been booked in three separate cases of attempted murder and under the Arms Act by the same Sector 31 police station. However, in this specific Hallomajra incident, it was noted that Altamas was arrested for the first time.

The swift action by UT police has brought a measure of relief, highlighting their efforts to address violent crime in the city. The case continues as investigations proceed to ensure all aspects are thoroughly examined.
