In a swift police action, two young men were arrested on Friday in connection with the theft of a motorcycle from the Varkala area of Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala. The accused have been identified as Rahul, aged 20 and hailing from Idukki, and Jayesh, also known as Vishnu, an 18-year-old resident of Sasthamnada.

Details of the Motorcycle Theft Incident

The stolen motorcycle belonged to Amal Sajeev, a resident of Srinivasapuram. According to the complaint filed by Amal, the bike was parked near the Kilitthattumukku temple on Sunday night when it was allegedly taken by the perpetrators. After reporting the theft to the authorities, Amal provided crucial CCTV footage that captured the incident, aiding the investigation.

In a remarkable turn of events, Amal himself played a pivotal role in the recovery of his vehicle. During his personal search efforts, he spotted a repainted motorcycle at the Maidanam petrol pump and immediately recognized it as his own. This discovery led to a confrontation between Amal and the two accused, resulting in a physical altercation at the scene.

Arrest and Police Action

Following the scuffle, Rahul was swiftly apprehended and handed over to the Varkala police. Law enforcement officials then conducted a follow-up operation, leading to the arrest of Jayesh at the Varkala railway station. The police have confirmed that both individuals are now in custody and are being questioned regarding their involvement in the theft.
