Two Arrested in Bhojpur Shooting Case, Firearms Seized
In a swift response to a violent incident, police in Bihar's Bhojpur district have apprehended two individuals following a shooting that left a young man critically injured outside his residence. The attack occurred in Keshavpur village under the Barhara police station jurisdiction.
Details of the Arrest and Seizure
Acting on information about the Friday night shooting, law enforcement officials conducted raids that led to the arrest of both suspects by Saturday. The main accused has been identified as 19-year-old Sudhir Singh, son of Mantu Singh from Keshavpur village. His accomplice is 20-year-old Deepak Singh, also a resident of the same village.
During the operation, police confiscated significant evidence including two country-made pistols, one live cartridge, one pellet, and an empty cartridge from the possession of the arrested individuals. Authorities also seized a motorcycle believed to have been used during the commission of the crime.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Shooting
According to family accounts provided by the victim's brother, Ajay Kumar Choudhary, the incident began when Sujit Kumar, the 25-year-old victim, was standing outside his family home on Friday evening. Sudhir Singh allegedly attempted to forcibly enter the premises, leading to a physical confrontation between the two men.
"When my brother Sujit forbade him from entering, Sudhir slapped him first," Choudhary explained. "My brother responded in kind, after which Sudhir left the scene only to return shortly afterward with his accomplice Deepak Singh."
Police reports confirm that the accused returned to the location and opened fire at close range, striking the victim before fleeing. The seriously injured Sujit Kumar was immediately transported for emergency medical treatment.
Medical Condition of the Victim
Dr. Vikash Singh, who is overseeing the treatment of the injured youth at a medical facility in Ara, provided an update on Saturday regarding the patient's condition. "The victim has sustained serious injuries to his back and face," the doctor stated. "His blood pressure remains dangerously high, and we will need to keep him under close observation for the next 72 hours to monitor his recovery."
Police Response and Investigation
SHO Ravikant of Barhara police station, who led the operation to apprehend the suspects, emphasized the prompt police action in this case. "We have taken both accused into custody and recovered the weapons used in this crime," he confirmed. The investigation continues as authorities work to establish the complete motive behind the violent altercation.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about violent crime in rural areas of Bihar and the challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing such cases promptly. The quick arrest of the suspects demonstrates improved police responsiveness in the region following such serious offenses.
