However, a recent and thorough review conducted by the child welfare committee uncovered an even more alarming reality. The investigation found that the sexual abuse had persisted even after the 2023 incident. Shockingly, the review indicated the involvement of at least 10 other individuals besides family members in the ongoing assaults.

Following the inquiry, the Srirangam all-women police formally registered a case against a total of 15 people. The accused include the girl's immediate family members—her mother and grandfather—alongside the other individuals identified during the probe.
