27-Year-Old Man Murders Former Co-Worker in Trichy Over Old Dispute
Trichy: Man kills co-worker over enmity, arrested

A shocking incident of murder stemming from a bitter personal feud has rocked the Lalgudi area in Trichy district. A 27-year-old man was brutally killed on Monday night, with police swiftly arresting the accused, a former friend and co-worker.

From Friendship to Fatal Enmity

The roots of this tragic event go back several months. The deceased, R Ravindra Babu from Keelamanakkal village, and the accused, N Kamalesh, also 27, were once friends. Both had worked together as loadmen at a government paddy procurement centre in Lalgudi approximately six months ago. It was during this time that their relationship soured due to a financial dispute between them.

The Diwali Confrontation That Deepened the Rift

The existing rivalry took a violent turn during the recent Diwali celebrations. An argument reportedly broke out between the two over bursting firecrackers. This quarrel escalated into a physical assault, where Ravindra Babu and his elder brother, Rajesh Babu, allegedly attacked and injured Kamalesh. Following this incident, Kamalesh lodged a formal complaint with the Lalgudi police, who registered a case against the Babu brothers. This legal action served only to intensify the hostility between the former friends.

The Fatal Attack and Aftermath

The simmering tension culminated in a deadly attack on Monday night. According to police sources, Ravindra Babu was standing near the Keelamanakkal railway crossing when Kamalesh allegedly approached him. In a brutal assault, Kamalesh is said to have attacked Babu with a sharp hook, inflicting fatal injuries. Babu succumbed to his wounds and died on the spot.

Upon being alerted, Lalgudi police sent the body to the Trichy Government Hospital for a postmortem examination. They have registered a murder case in connection with the death. The police acted promptly, arresting the accused, N Kamalesh. He was produced before a judicial magistrate and has been remanded to judicial custody at the Trichy Central Prison as the investigation proceeds.
