Fresh Charges Filed Against Abhishek Banerjee's Aide
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee's close associate Sumit Roy has been booked in a new fraud and forgery case in West Bengal's Paschim Medinipur district. The case was registered following a complaint alleging cheating and forgery, with former TMC MLA Sujoy Hazra also named in the First Information Report (FIR), according to police sources.
Roy Absconding Amid Multiple Cases
Sumit Roy has reportedly been evading arrest for some time. He was recently booked in a separate land-grab case, prompting authorities to issue a lookout notice against him. Police had earlier conducted a search operation at Abhishek Banerjee's Kolkata residence in an attempt to trace Roy. The developments signal escalating legal troubles for the TMC leader's close circle.
CID Investigation Underway
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has confirmed it is examining the allegations and gathering relevant documents. Officials stated that every claim will be verified based on evidence before any further legal action is taken. The investigation aims to establish the veracity of the fraud and forgery accusations.
