Tirupur Man Arrested for Murdering Cousin in Lodge Over Property Dispute
In a shocking incident in Tirupur, a 36-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for the brutal murder of his cousin at a city lodge earlier that day. The crime, which has sent ripples through the local community, was driven by a bitter dispute over ancestral property, according to police officials.
Details of the Crime
Police identified the suspect as Gangai Amaran, a resident of Kamanaicken Palayam, and the victim as Senthil Nathan, 40, from Appachi Nagar. The investigation revealed that Gangai lured Senthil to a lodge near the Bungalow bus stop on Avinashi Road under the pretext of discussing a business idea. Senthil, who ran a garment firm in Tirupur, agreed to the meeting, unaware of the deadly intent.
Upon meeting, the duo quickly escalated into a heated argument over their ancestral property. In a violent outburst, Gangai stabbed Senthil in the neck with a knife he had brought with him. The attack was so severe that Senthil reportedly stumbled down the stairs and collapsed on the third floor of the lodge, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police Response and Investigation
Lodge staff immediately alerted the authorities after discovering the scene. Officers from the Tirupur north police station rushed to the location, recovered the body, and sent it to the Tirupur Government College Hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
An officer involved in the case stated, "Investigation revealed that when they met, the duo got into an argument and Gangai stabbed Senthil in the neck with a knife, which he had brought with him. Senthil reportedly stumbled down the stairs and collapsed on the third floor." This statement underscores the premeditated nature of the crime, as Gangai arrived armed and ready to commit violence.
Legal Proceedings
Following his arrest, Gangai Amaran was produced before a local court, where he was remanded in judicial custody. A formal case has been registered against him, and the police are continuing their investigation to uncover any additional motives or accomplices. The incident highlights the tragic consequences of familial conflicts turning violent, especially when intertwined with financial and property matters.
The community in Tirupur has been left in shock, with many calling for stricter measures to prevent such disputes from escalating. This case serves as a grim reminder of the importance of resolving conflicts through legal and peaceful means, rather than resorting to violence.
