In a significant breakthrough, the Mohali police have apprehended three individuals in connection with the brutal murder of a 32-year-old man from Nepal at a housing society in Zirakpur. The incident, which sent shockwaves through the locality, occurred four days ago.

The Fatal Night at Akriti Complex

The victim has been identified as Ramesh Kumar (32), a resident of Akriti Complex located near the housing society where the crime took place. According to police investigations, the accused entered his flat late at night with the clear intention of committing theft.

However, their plan went awry when Ramesh Kumar woke up during the act. Startled and panicking at the prospect of being caught, the suspects allegedly attacked him. The police confirmed that the accused strangled Ramesh to death on the spot.

Police Crack the Case with Technical Evidence

Following the murder, a case was registered against unidentified persons, prompting a detailed probe. The investigative team pieced together the sequence of events using technical evidence and crucial inputs from informers. This led to the identification and subsequent arrest of the three accused.

The arrested individuals have been named as Happy, a resident of Shatabgarh village in Zirakpur, and Parvinder Singh alias Bhindi and Tarsem Singh alias Soma, both residents of Jhajjo village in the Banur area of Patiala district.

Arrests, Court Proceedings, and Missing Jewellery

On Sunday, the three accused were presented before a duty magistrate, who remanded them to police custody for further interrogation. The police revealed that after murdering Ramesh, the suspects fled the scene with his personal belongings.

The stolen items included a silver chain and a bracelet that the victim was wearing at the time. Authorities have stated that the recovery of this jewellery is still pending, and investigations are ongoing to locate these items.

The swift action by the Mohali police has brought a measure of relief to the community, highlighting the role of modern investigative techniques in solving serious crimes. The case underscores the dangers of nocturnal thefts escalating into fatal violence.
