Following the attack, Pawan and Kuldeep were rushed to the civil hospital in Fazilka for emergency medical attention. Tragically, Pawan was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital, succumbing to his severe injuries. Kuldeep, who also sustained critical wounds, received primary treatment at the civil hospital before being referred to Faridkot Medical College for further specialized care, as alleged by Surinder in his police statement.
Police Investigation and Case Registration
The police have registered a formal case against three individuals in connection with this violent crime. The investigation is being handled with urgency given the fatal nature of the incident.
Background of the Enmity
Khui Khera station house officer (SHO) Hardev Singh Bedi provided crucial insights into the motive behind the attack. According to SHO Bedi, the accused Harjinder Singh and the deceased Pawan worked together as laborers. Approximately a year ago, the two men engaged in a physical altercation while under the influence of alcohol, sparking a bitter enmity between them.
This longstanding hostility is believed to have culminated in the recent violent confrontation. On the basis of Surinder Kumar's formal complaint, the police have registered a case against three men, including Harjinder Singh. SHO Bedi emphasized that the accused would be apprehended shortly, underscoring the police's commitment to delivering justice in this case.
The incident serves as a grim reminder of how personal disputes can escalate into deadly violence, particularly in close-knit rural communities. The Fazilka police are continuing their investigation to ensure all those responsible are brought to justice while the community mourns the loss of Pawan and prays for Kuldeep's recovery.
