Three Men Arrested in Gurgaon for Assaulting and Robbing Commuter After Offering Ride
In a shocking incident in Gurgaon, three men have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 42-year-old commuter and robbing him of Rs 25,000 after luring him into a car under the pretext of offering a ride. According to police reports, the crime took place on January 28 when the victim had come to the city for office work.
Details of the Incident
Around 6 pm, the victim was waiting for a bus to Dharuhera when a Swift Dzire car with four youths inside stopped near him. The driver offered to drop him for just Rs 50, which seemed like a convenient deal. Trusting the offer, the man got into the vehicle.
After traveling some distance, the occupants allegedly began assaulting the man. During the violent attack, they snatched his wallet, robbed him of Rs 24,000 in cash, and forced him to transfer an additional Rs 1,000 through UPI. After committing the crime, the accused abandoned him on the road and fled the scene.
Police Investigation and Arrests
The victim approached the Naharpur Rupa police post under the Sadar police station the next day and submitted a written complaint. Following this, an FIR was registered under sections related to assault and snatching.
A dedicated police team conducted raids and successfully arrested three accused from different locations in Gurgaon on Saturday. Those arrested include:
- Ratan Singh Shekhawat (26), a resident of Jaipur
- Raghu Shekhawat (21), also from Jaipur
- Guddu Khan (25), a resident of Kotputli in Rajasthan
Police seized the car used in the crime and recovered Rs 6,000 in cash from the accused. During interrogation, authorities discovered that Ratan Singh works as a taxi driver in Gurgaon, while Guddu Khan is employed with a private company in Kurukshetra.
Premeditated Crime and Ongoing Investigation
A senior police officer revealed that the accused had allegedly premeditated the crime and specifically targeted the victim by posing as passengers offering a cheap ride. This calculated approach highlights the deliberate nature of their criminal activity.
Efforts are currently underway to trace the fourth suspect who was present in the car at the time of the incident. The arrested individuals were produced before a court on Saturday, and further investigation is ongoing to uncover any additional details or connections.
This case serves as a reminder for commuters to exercise caution when accepting rides from strangers, especially in urban areas where such incidents can occur. The Gurgaon police have demonstrated swift action in this matter, but the search for the remaining suspect continues as they work to ensure complete justice in this disturbing case of robbery and assault.
