Chandigarh Police Nab Trio, Recover Stolen Jewellery & Appliances
Three Arrested in Chandigarh Theft Cases, Jewellery Recovered

In a significant breakthrough, the Manimajra police in Chandigarh have successfully cracked two theft cases with the arrest of three individuals. The police team managed to recover a haul of stolen items, including gold and silver jewellery, a blower, a mixer-grinder, and oil tins from the possession of the accused.

Accused Identified and Sent to Custody

The police have identified the arrested men as Shamsher Singh (32) and Shankar Rawat (30), both residents of Manimajra, and Karan alias Pepsi (23), who hails from a slum near Majri Chowk in Panchkula. Following their arrest, the trio was produced before a local court, which subsequently remanded them to 14 days of judicial custody.

Details of the Two Theft Cases

The police action stemmed from the investigation into two separate theft complaints registered at the Manimajra police station on the same day. The first case was filed on January 9, 2026, by complainant Abhinav Pal. He reported that an unknown person had stolen a blower and a mixer-grinder from outside his shop located in the Manimajra Housing Complex.

On the very same day, a second case was registered based on a complaint by Jyoti Sharma, also a resident of Manimajra. She alleged that thieves had made off with her precious gold and silver jewellery from her house.

Investigation Leads to Breakthrough

To crack the cases, the investigating team meticulously scanned CCTV footage from the vicinity of the crime scenes. This digital evidence, combined with intelligence gathered from informers, led the police to suspicious locations. Conducting targeted raids based on these leads, the police team successfully apprehended the three accused persons.

All the stolen articles, including the valuable jewellery, have been recovered, marking a successful conclusion to the investigation. In a further development, a separate case under the Arms Act has been registered against Karan alias Pepsi. Police sources indicated that the other two accused, Singh and Rawat, did not have any prior criminal history.
