High-Speed Collision in Patna's VVIP Area Averts Major Tragedy
A serious incident unfolded in Patna's high-security VVIP zone on Sunday when an over-speeding Thar collided with a police patrol vehicle, narrowly avoiding a potential major tragedy. The crash occurred near the BP Mandal roundabout, close to the residence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, highlighting concerns about traffic safety in sensitive areas.
Details of the Accident and Immediate Response
The Thar, traveling at an excessive speed, rammed into a moving patrol vehicle belonging to the Shakti Suraksha Dal, a special unit of the Patna Police dedicated to protecting women, students, and young girls in the city. The forceful impact resulted in significant damage to the front portions of both vehicles. Following the collision, the Thar smashed through a guardrail, briefly continued forward, and then came to a halt, creating chaos at the scene.
Quick-response personnel were immediately on the spot to contain the situation. The Gandhi Maidan Traffic Police team rushed to the location, with DSP (Traffic-3) Ajit Kumar also arriving promptly. Kumar stated, "A patrol vehicle was hit by a Thar. The front portions of both vehicles were damaged in the incident. A female police officer was injured, while the other personnel were safe. The Thar driver and the other occupants were taken to the police station. The Thar was travelling at a high speed and broke through the guardrail."
Investigation and Legal Actions Underway
Four individuals, including the driver and other occupants of the Thar, were detained and taken to the police station for questioning and further investigation. Authorities are examining factors such as speeding and possible negligence that led to the crash. Kumar confirmed that an FIR will be filed based on the police vehicle driver's statement, with further action to be taken at the Gandhi Maidan Traffic Police Station.
When questioned about the occurrence of such an incident in a VVIP area, DSP Kumar emphasized, "We are constantly taking action against over-speeding. We take action against those who are negligent." This statement underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address traffic violations, even in high-security zones.
