Telangana EAGLE Force Cracks Down on Ganja Trafficking with Dual Busts
The Telangana EAGLE Force, working closely with local police units, successfully disrupted two major ganja trafficking operations in the state. Authorities seized a total of 29 kilograms of ganja, with an estimated street value of Rs 14.5 lakh. In these coordinated efforts, sleuths arrested four drug peddlers, dealing a significant blow to illicit drug networks.
First Case: Interception on Hyderabad-Pune Route
In the first incident, the Telangana EAGLE Force collaborated with the Kukatpally police and the Cyberabad clues team. They apprehended two individuals: Sachin Dilip Ranavare, aged 37, and Laukik Ganesh Raut, aged 21. Police caught the duo as they attempted to transport 21 kilograms of ganja, worth Rs 10.50 lakh, from Hyderabad to Pune.
The accused had allegedly procured the contraband from Berhampur in Odisha. They concealed the ganja in travel bags and were planning to board a bus. Officers intercepted them near Metro Pillar No. 800 on the Kukatpally–Miyapur stretch.
Ranavare is a repeat offender with a prior arrest record. He was arrested in July 2025 and later released on bail in December 2025. Police handed over both accused, along with the seized ganja, to the Kukatpally police station for further legal proceedings. Investigators are now actively working to trace their supply network and identify any associates involved in this illegal trade.
Second Case: Arrest at Mahabubabad Bus Station
In a separate operation, the Warangal EAGLE Force coordinated with the Mahabubabad town police. They arrested two men, Venu and Anil, both 25 years old, at the Mahabubabad bus station. From them, police seized 8 kilograms of ganja valued at Rs 4 lakh.
Authorities described the duo as addicts with previous involvement in narcotics cases. They were acting on instructions from a man named Naveen, who hails from Karimnagar. Police identified Naveen as the alleged mastermind behind this trafficking operation.
According to police reports, Naveen sourced the ganja from Kalimela in Odisha's Malkangiri district. He reportedly used unemployed youth as carriers to transport the drugs. This marked the third instance where the accused were sent to fetch ganja under his direction.
Police have launched an intensive search to apprehend Naveen. They are making concerted efforts to bring him to justice and dismantle the broader network responsible for these illicit activities.
