Patna: The body of a 15-year-old boy was discovered with his throat slit near Jagmal Bigha village under Khusrupur police station area of Patna district on Saturday morning, sparking protests by local residents. The deceased was identified as Ankit Kumar, son of Nitish Paswan of Katauna village.
Discovery and Initial Response
According to police, villagers passing through the area spotted the body lying near a field around 7 am and informed the local police station. Soon after, people gathered at the spot and demanded the arrest of those responsible. A police team reached the spot, pacified the crowd, and assured them of swift action.
Police officials said the body was taken into custody and sent to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination. A forensic science team and a dog squad were pressed into service to collect evidence from the spot. Blood samples and other material clues were gathered to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Family Account
Family members said Ankit had left home on Friday evening to attend a wedding ceremony in Jagmal Bigha village and was in a cheerful mood. When he failed to return late at night, relatives began searching for him and contacted friends and family members but could not trace him. Their fears were confirmed the next morning when they received information about the recovery of his body. Ankit's uncle said he last saw him at the wedding feast, where everything appeared normal.
Police Investigation
Fatuha sub-divisional police officer Sanjeev Kumar visited the spot and said police were questioning family members, wedding attendees, and local residents, adding that multiple teams were conducting raids and using technical surveillance.
Additional station house officer Ashok Kumar said Ankit had attended the wedding along with three other youths. Two of them told police that a dispute broke out between Ankit and another youth when the group went out for nature's call. "The youth allegedly attacked Ankit with a sharp weapon, slit his throat, and stabbed him in the chest before fleeing. Raids are on to arrest the absconding accused," he added.
Police said further details would emerge after the post-mortem report and interrogation of the two arrested youths.
