Tragic Drowning at Former MP's Residence
A young worker lost his life in a tragic accident on Sunday morning at the Guntur city residence of former Member of Parliament and YSRCP leader, Modugula Venugopal Reddy. The victim, identified as 18-year-old Harshavardhan, reportedly slipped and fell into the deep end of the swimming pool while carrying out cleaning duties.
Details of the Fatal Incident
The incident occurred at the leader's home in the Reddypalem area. Harshavardhan, a native of Koretipadu who lived with his mother, was employed at the residence. On the fateful morning, he was assigned the task of cleaning the swimming pool. According to preliminary reports, he slipped and fell into the deep water.
The teenager remained unnoticed for some time until fellow workers discovered him unconscious in the pool. He was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital. However, doctors declared him 'brought dead' upon arrival. The police confirmed that initial findings point towards accidental drowning, noting that the young man did not know how to swim.
Police Investigation and Post-Mortem
Nallapadu Station House Officer Ramakrishna swiftly visited the accident spot and conducted a preliminary inspection. The body was subsequently shifted to the Guntur Government General Hospital (GGH) for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
While the initial evidence suggests an accident, investigators have stated they are not ruling out other possibilities at this early stage. A formal case will be registered based on a complaint from the victim's family. Police officials assured that all angles of the incident would be thoroughly probed to ascertain the complete sequence of events.
The untimely death of Harshavardhan has cast a pall of gloom, highlighting the need for stringent safety protocols, especially for non-swimmers working around water bodies. The community awaits the final results of the investigation as the family mourns their devastating loss.
