Teenager Detained After Triple Murder in Gorakhpur Village

A 16-year-old boy was detained by police on Monday after he allegedly killed his elder brother, sister-in-law, and their three-year-old son with a sharp-edged weapon in Balua village, Gorakhpur. The incident occurred around 3 am, according to senior police officials.

The victims have been identified as Amit Gupta, his wife Ranjana, and their son Reyansh. All three were sleeping in the same room when the teenager allegedly attacked them. The accused's parents were sleeping in another room at the time.

Father Witnessed Son Fleeing Scene

Police said the boy's father heard screams and rushed to the room, where he discovered the three victims lying in a pool of blood. He allegedly saw his younger son coming out of the room carrying the weapon. The father informed neighbours before alerting the police.

Senior police officials reached the spot and launched an investigation. The teenager was found hiding in an upstairs room with the blood-stained weapon, according to police. He was taken into custody for questioning.

Bodies Sent for Post-Mortem

A case has been registered on the complaint of the victims' father. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. The village falls under Bansgaon police station limits, about 50 km from the district headquarters.

SP (South) Dinesh Puri confirmed that the three victims were killed inside the room and the juvenile was being questioned. He said, "The accused is a minor and we are investigating the circumstances that led to this brutal incident."

Possible Motive Under Investigation

The motive behind the killings is yet to be ascertained, police said. However, preliminary investigation suggests a possible dispute related to a family-run shop may have triggered the incident. Neighbors reported that the family had been facing financial stress recently.

Police are also examining the teenager's mental state and any history of conflict within the family. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are awaiting forensic reports to gather further evidence.
