Late Thursday night, residents of Nachna town in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district reported a startling sight. A suspected drone was seen hovering in the sky near the sensitive India-Pakistan border. The incident triggered an immediate alert across multiple security agencies.
Security Agencies Launch Swift Investigation
Police, the Army, the Air Force, and intelligence units quickly mobilized. They launched a verification and investigation exercise to determine the nature of the aerial object. Officials stated the object was sighted twice at short intervals. It appeared to remain in the sky for some time before vanishing from view.
Uncertain Origin and Purpose
Authorities could not immediately confirm if the object was a drone or another aerial device fitted with lights. Its origin also remained unclear. Security officials could not rule out the possibility of an espionage attempt. They noted Nachna is approximately 50 kilometers from the international border by air.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Shivhare provided details. He said information about "drone-type movement" was received late at night. Teams are now examining videos and other inputs to determine the object's origin and purpose.
Eyewitness Accounts and Official Denials
Eyewitnesses reported seeing red flashing lights around 9 pm. Several residents managed to record videos of the mysterious object. The object was no longer visible after 10 pm.
Both the Army and the Air Force issued strong denials. They confirmed they were not operating any drone in the area at that time.
Existing Drone Ban in Jaisalmer
The district administration has already implemented strict regulations. Drone flights without prior permission are banned across the entire Jaisalmer district. This latest sighting has heightened vigilance in the border region.
