Surat School Trustee Accuses Woman of Extortion Using Audio Recordings
In a disturbing case from Surat, a 42-year-old man, serving as the trustee of a Kapodra school, has lodged a formal complaint with the police against a woman, alleging that she extorted money from him by threatening to circulate audio recordings of their private conversations. The Kapodra police have registered an FIR against the accused, charging her with extortion and criminal intimidation under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Details of the Alleged Extortion Scheme
According to the FIR, the incident traces back to a year ago when the accused woman visited the victim's school for a job interview. Initially, the school director rejected her application, but she managed to obtain the trustee's phone number. She persistently pleaded for employment, citing her husband's kidney failure and poor health as reasons for her desperation. Moved by her situation, the victim offered her a probationary job at the school.
However, after just 10 days, the school director informed the trustee that her work performance was unsatisfactory, and she was instructed not to return. Despite this, the accused allegedly continued to contact the victim through calls and messages. She claimed she needed Rs 15,000 for her husband's medication and additional funds for her son, who was in Class 12 science. The victim, out of sympathy, transferred money to her via GPay for four to five months.
Escalation of Harassment and Threats
The situation took a sinister turn when the accused allegedly demanded a physical relationship, which the victim firmly refused. Following this rejection, she began harassing him with late-night calls. Upon investigating her background, the victim discovered that she had a history of harassing multiple men after entering into relationships with them.
When the victim blocked her number, she resorted to calling from different phone numbers. In a particularly alarming move, she sent him a message displaying a pregnancy test, falsely claiming he had impregnated her. She then demanded Rs 35,000, which the victim refused, asserting that he had no such relationship with her. In response, she threatened to damage his reputation by circulating a specific message, leading the victim to reluctantly transfer the money.
The harassment persisted, culminating in her circulating an audio recording of their conversation. This final act prompted the victim to file a formal police complaint, seeking legal action against her for extortion and criminal intimidation.

The Kapodra police have booked the woman based on the complaint, and an investigation is underway to gather evidence and verify the allegations. This case highlights the severe emotional and financial toll that such extortion schemes can inflict on victims, underscoring the importance of vigilance and prompt legal recourse in such situations.
