In a deeply distressing incident from Surat's Singanpor area, a mother allegedly forced her two young daughters to consume a poisoned drink before drinking the same toxic mixture herself. The two girls, aged 6 and 4, have now recovered and are reported to be stable and out of danger following urgent medical treatment. Tragically, their mother, identified as 35-year-old Mittal Kharak, succumbed to the poison on April 15.
Police Register Attempted Murder Case Against Deceased Mother
Singanpor police have officially registered an attempted murder case against Mittal Kharak, as required by legal procedures, based on a formal complaint filed by her husband, Jaysukh (43). The case was registered on Friday, following the harrowing events that unfolded earlier in the week. According to the police complaint, Jaysukh returned home for lunch around noon on Wednesday before heading back to work. Approximately two hours later, at around 2 PM, Mittal called him and allegedly confessed that she had consumed poison and had also administered it to their two daughters.
Jaysukh immediately rushed home and transported all three family members to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention. During the subsequent investigation, one of the daughters informed her father that their mother had given them water in which some black tablets had been dissolved. Mittal reportedly consumed the same mixture herself afterward, according to police statements.
Family Background and Ongoing Police Investigation
The family had been residing in a rented accommodation at Suman Pratik Awas in the Singanpor area for approximately one year. Jaysukh, originally from Mahuva in Bhavnagar district, works as a diamond artisan and earns around Rs 20,000 per month. Investigators are currently working to determine the precise circumstances and motivations that led to this tragic incident.
Police authorities suspect that possible animosity between the couple or some recent personal development might have triggered the event. However, family members have not indicated any long-standing conflicts or disputes that could explain such extreme actions.
