A shocking incident of stone-pelting targeted a moving train in Kozhikode, leaving a 22-year-old college student with serious injuries. The attack occurred on Monday night, raising significant concerns about passenger safety on Indian railways.

The Executive Express, train number 16307, was passing between the Kadalundi bridge and Feroke when unidentified individuals pelted stones at the train. The victim, Aishwarya Ramakrishnan, was seated by the window in a general compartment at the time of the incident, which took place around 9:50 PM.
Aishwarya sustained severe facial injuries, including three broken teeth, a jaw fracture, and lacerations to her lip. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. According to her mother, doctors have recommended surgery to address her injuries.
Background of the Victim and Police Response
Aishwarya Ramakrishnan is a degree student at Union Christian College in Aluva. She was returning home on study leave ahead of her examinations, scheduled to begin on April 17, and was planning to alight at Vadakara station.
The Kozhikode railway police have registered a case under multiple legal provisions. This includes sections 118(1), 327(1), and 329(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 152 of the Indian Railways Act. These sections pertain to acts such as throwing stones at trains and endangering passenger safety.
Despite conducting extensive searches in the area, the police have not yet apprehended the accused individuals. Investigations are actively ongoing to identify and arrest those responsible for this dangerous act.

Notably, a similar stone-pelting incident was reported earlier on Monday in the same area, targeting the Vande Bharat Express. Authorities are investigating to determine if there is any possible link between the two attacks.
