Spices Trader Brutally Murdered in Dhar District Home Invasion
In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the community, a 28-year-old spices trader was brutally murdered in his home in Sardarpur, located in the Dhar district. The gruesome attack occurred late on Monday night when a group of men forcibly entered the residence, holding the trader's wife captive while they carried out the crime and made off with cash and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees.
Details of the Home Invasion
The attackers gained entry into the house of trader Devkrishna Purohit in Gondikheda Charan village by climbing through a neighbouring structure. At the time of the incident, Purohit was asleep in his room with his wife, Priyanka, while his mother and sister were in other rooms of the house.
The assailants first overpowered Priyanka, gagging her and tying her hands and legs before holding her hostage. In her statement to the police, Priyanka recounted that three to four men had entered the house, threatening to kill her husband if she did not hand over valuables. The men proceeded to ransack cupboards and forced her to take out cash and jewellery.
Brutal Attack and Aftermath
While Priyanka was restrained on the bed, the accused attacked Devkrishna with a sharp-edged weapon, inflicting a deep head injury nearly 12 inches in length. He suffered excessive bleeding and died on the spot. Priyanka stated that she remained tied up for nearly half an hour and could not witness the exact moment of the fatal attack due to her restraints.
After leaving the house in disarray, the attackers fled with gold and silver ornaments worth lakhs of rupees. Police noted that Purohit's mobile phone was also missing from the scene.
Police Investigation Underway
Upon receiving information about the incident, police teams, along with forensic experts and a dog squad, swiftly reached the spot. The body was sent to Sardarpur Civil Hospital for a postmortem examination to gather further evidence.
Dhar ASP Parul Belapurkar commented on the ongoing investigation, stating, "We are trying to figure out the motive behind the murder. All the angles are being looked into." The police are exploring various leads and angles to apprehend the perpetrators and understand the circumstances surrounding this heinous crime.
