Yamunanagar Police Crack Sensational Murder Case, Arrest Sarpanch's Wife's Son
Son arrested for mother's murder in Yamunanagar village

In a significant breakthrough, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA)–II team of Yamunanagar police has cracked a high-profile murder case, leading to the arrest of two individuals, including the victim's own son. The case pertains to the killing of Baljinder Kaur, the wife of the sarpanch of Shyampur village.

Heinous Crime Unraveled by Special Team

The investigation was launched after information about the suspicious death of Baljinder Kaur was received at the Sadhaura police station on December 24, 2025. Given the doubtful circumstances, Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal constituted a special investigation team to probe the matter. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashish Chaudhary stated that the team achieved this breakthrough through meticulous analysis of technical evidence and rigorous investigation.

Son's Secret Return and Premeditated Attack

Police investigations revealed a long-standing family dispute between the deceased, Baljinder Kaur, and her son, Gomit Rathi. Due to these ongoing conflicts, Gomit Rathi had been sent to England nearly two years prior. However, the discord persisted even after his relocation.

In a shocking turn of events, it was discovered that Gomit Rathi secretly returned to India from England on December 18, 2025, without informing any family member. His associate, Pankaj, a resident of Shyampur village, was the only person aware of his return. Pankaj allegedly provided full assistance to Gomit, ensuring his presence in the village remained unknown.

On the night of December 24, Gomit Rathi quietly reached Shyampur and hid in a cattle shed. Later, he attacked his mother, first assaulting her and then strangling her to death. In an attempt to stage the murder as an accident or suspicious death, the accused dumped her body into a water tank before fleeing the scene.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

The police have arrested both accused: Gomit Rathi, the son of the deceased, and his accomplice Pankaj. Both were produced before the court, which has remanded them to four days of police custody.

DSP Ashish Chaudhary confirmed that during the remand period, the accused will undergo intensive interrogation, and the police will work to recover the weapons used in the murder. Officials reiterated that every aspect of the case is being examined in detail to ensure a strong charge sheet and successful prosecution.

The swift action by the Yamunanagar police's CIA-II team has brought a measure of closure to a case that had sent shockwaves through the local community.
