Theft at Basaveshwara Temple in Vijayapura
Silver ornaments worth approximately Rs 52 lakh were stolen from the Basaveshwara Temple in Vijayapura district, Karnataka. The incident came to light on Monday morning when temple staff noticed the locked sanctum sanctorum had been tampered with.
Details of the Stolen Items
The stolen ornaments included a silver crown, silver waist belts, and other decorative items used for daily rituals. According to the temple committee, these items were donated by former Muddebihal MLA A S Patil Nadahalli. The total value of the stolen silver is estimated at Rs 52 lakh.
Police Investigation Underway
