Shimla Police Cracks Down on Inter-State Narcotics Network
In a significant breakthrough, the Shimla police announced on Friday that they have successfully dismantled an inter-state narcotics trafficking network. The operation led to the arrest of five individuals and the recovery of 34 grams of heroin, commonly known as chitta, from their possession.
Coordinated Operation Based on Intelligence Tip-Off
Acting on a specific tip-off, a dedicated police team from the Theog police station sprang into action. They intercepted a Bolero Camper vehicle with four occupants in the Matiana area. Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, the authorities discovered and seized 34 grams of heroin. All four occupants were immediately taken into custody.
Identification of the Accused Individuals
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Chand Prakash, aged 32, from Kullu district
- Vijay Kumar, aged 23, from Kullu district
- Kailash, aged 26, from Kullu district
- Abhishek, aged 24, from Shimla district
A formal case has been registered against the accused under Sections 21 and 29 of the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, as confirmed by the police officials.
Expanded Investigation Leads to Main Supplier
During the subsequent and meticulous investigation, the police were able to trace the supply chain of the narcotics network. This led to the arrest of the alleged main supplier, Shivdev Singh, aged 30, from Mansa district in Punjab. Shivdev Singh was brought to Theog and produced before a court. The police have emphasized that further investigation into the network's operations and connections is actively ongoing.
This operation underscores the Shimla police's commitment to combating the menace of drug trafficking in the region and disrupting inter-state criminal networks.
