Pune EOW Arrests Sheetal Tejwani in Mahar Watan Land Scandal Linked to Parth Pawar's Firm
Sheetal Tejwani arrested in Pune land deal case

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Pune City Police has made a significant arrest in a high-profile land deal case. Sheetal Kishanchand Tejwani was taken into custody on Tuesday, December 5, 2025, in connection with alleged irregularities in the sale of a prime land parcel in Mundhwa to Amadea Enterprises LLP.

The Core of the Controversial Land Deal

At the heart of the investigation is the sale of a 17 Hectare and 51 Are plot of land located at Survey Number 88 in Mundhwa. This land was classified as Mahar Watan land, a type of hereditary land grant. Crucially, the property was in government possession and leased to the Botanical Survey of India at the time of the transaction.

The EOW alleges that this land was sold to Amadea Enterprises LLP without obtaining the mandatory approval from the state government. The firm counts Parth Pawar, son of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, as one of its partners.

Arrest and Investigation Details

Sheetal Tejwani, who held the power of attorney for 272 watandars (right holders) of the Mahar Watan land, was arrested after prolonged questioning. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Cyber and EOW) Vivek Masal confirmed that Tejwani was summoned for interrogation multiple times in the third week of November.

"After gathering sufficient evidence against her, she was arrested," stated DCP Masal. The arrest is part of the probe into a First Information Report (FIR) originally registered at the Khadak police station on November 7. Tejwani was presented before a Pune court on Thursday, where the police sought her custody remand for further investigation.

Broader Web of Accusations and a Common Link

The FIR at Khadak police station, now handled by the EOW, encompasses alleged irregularities in two separate land parcels—one in Bopodi and the other in Mundhwa. A total of nine individuals have been named as accused across these two cases.

A key figure connecting both cases is suspended tehsildar Suryakant Yewale, who is accused of issuing wrongful orders that facilitated the deals. In the Mundhwa case, the accused include Tejwani and Digvijay Patil, Parth Pawar's partner in Amadea Enterprises.

In a parallel legal action, a separate FIR concerning the Mundhwa land has been filed at the Bavdhan police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police jurisdiction. This complaint names Digvijay Patil, Sheetal Tejwani, and Ravindra Taru, a now-suspended sub-registrar who officially registered the controversial sale deed in May of this year.

The arrest marks a pivotal development in a case that has drawn considerable attention due to the involvement of high-profile political figures and the alleged circumvention of procedures meant to protect government-controlled hereditary land.
