High-Value SUV Stolen from Basement Parking in Ahmedabad's Paldi Area
In a concerning incident, an SUV valued at approximately Rs 10 lakh was reported stolen from the basement parking of a commercial complex located near Mahalaxmi crossroads in Paldi, Ahmedabad. The theft has prompted a formal complaint at the Paldi police station, filed on Monday, as authorities launch an investigation into the brazen crime.
Details of the Stolen Vehicle and Owner
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the vehicle belonged to Girirajsinh Zala, a 29-year-old lawyer residing in Vasna. Zala had purchased the SUV in 2023, registering it under his father's name. He routinely parked the vehicle in the basement of the commercial complex in Paldi, relying on the security measures in place.
Zala stated that he securely parked and locked the SUV on the evening of February 4 before departing from the premises. The theft went unnoticed until the early hours of Saturday, around 12:45 am, when the complex's security guard contacted Zala to inquire if he had moved the vehicle, as it was no longer at its designated parking spot.
Immediate Response and Police Investigation
Upon receiving the call, Zala and his father rushed to the location immediately. Despite conducting a thorough search of the surrounding areas, they were unable to trace the missing SUV. The incident has raised questions about the security protocols at the commercial complex, highlighting vulnerabilities in parking facilities.
Police officials have confirmed that they are actively scanning CCTV footage from both the complex and nearby roads. This effort aims to identify the suspect involved in the theft and establish a clear sequence of events leading up to the crime. A theft case has been officially registered against an unknown person, and further investigation is currently underway to apprehend the perpetrator and recover the stolen vehicle.
The theft underscores ongoing concerns about vehicle security in urban areas, with authorities urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.
