RPF Rescues Two Minor Girls from Suspected Trafficking at Ranchi Railway Station

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) successfully rescued two minor girls, aged 13 and 16, from suspected human trafficking during a critical search operation at Ranchi railway station. This operation took place on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, highlighting the vigilance of security forces in combating such crimes.

Arrest Made in Connection with Trafficking Case

A woman has been arrested in connection with this distressing case. During a routine platform inspection ahead of the arrival of the Jharkhand Sampark Kranti Express, RPF officials noticed the woman sitting with the two minors under highly suspicious circumstances, prompting immediate action.

Details of the Suspect and Victims

On questioning, the woman identified herself as Reshma Devi, a resident of Delhi. The two girls, both hailing from Simdega district in Jharkhand, revealed to officials that they were being taken to Delhi to work as domestic help. This disclosure raised serious concerns about potential exploitation and trafficking.

Preliminary Investigation Findings

Preliminary investigation has uncovered that the woman intended to place the minor girls in households as domestic workers, taking a monthly commission for their labor. Shockingly, she reportedly admitted to having taken several minors from Jharkhand to Delhi in the past, suggesting a pattern of such illegal activities.

Legal Actions and Previous Case

A case related to kidnapping, human trafficking, and violations under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered against the woman at Gumla police station. Notably, this case dates back to December 2023, indicating ongoing legal proceedings against her for similar offenses.

The rescue operation underscores the critical role of the RPF in safeguarding vulnerable individuals, especially minors, from trafficking networks. Authorities continue to investigate this case to ensure justice and prevent further such incidents.
