Rowdy-Sheeter Fatally Assaulted in Maddur Over Petty Dispute

In a shocking incident in Maddur town, Mandya district, a 22-year-old rowdy-sheeter named Yashwanth, also known as Abhi or Kajji, was killed late on Sunday night after a violent altercation with two youths. The confrontation, which police described as stemming from a trivial issue, occurred on Temple Road and resulted in Yashwanth sustaining fatal head injuries.

Details of the Maddur Incident

According to police reports, Yashwanth, who had been listed as a rowdy-sheeter since 2025, approached the two youths and asked for cigarettes. When they informed him they did not have any, he demanded that they fetch some from a nearby shop. Upon their refusal, Yashwanth allegedly initiated physical violence by hitting them. In retaliation, the two youths struck him on the head, leading to his death. Both assailants also suffered injuries during the scuffle and were subsequently treated at a hospital in Mandya. Authorities are currently investigating the case to determine the exact circumstances and potential charges.

Separate Deaths Reported in Mandya District

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, the body of a 28-year-old electrical contractor named Pavan, a resident of Hunasanahalli village, was retrieved from the River Cauvery near Nimishamba Temple in Srirangapatna town. Pavan had been reported missing since April 2, with a case registered at the Arakere police station. His body was discovered on Monday, and preliminary investigations suggest he may have died by suicide. Police are actively probing the cause of death to confirm the details.

In another tragic event, a 23-year-old farmer identified as Chandrashekhar B drowned in a tank at Chikkarasinakere in Bharatinagar on Monday morning. He was swimming at the time of the incident. The Maddur police have registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) case and are conducting further inquiries into the drowning.

These incidents highlight a series of unfortunate events in Mandya district, with authorities working diligently to investigate each case and provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
