Lucknow University Unveils Eight New Technology-Focused Academic Programs
The Department of Computer Science at Lucknow University has made a significant announcement regarding the introduction of eight new career-oriented academic programs. These programs are scheduled to commence from the 2026-27 academic session and will be offered exclusively on the university's main campus in Lucknow.
Aligning Education with Technological Evolution
According to an official statement from the university, these newly launched programs have been meticulously designed to bridge the gap between traditional higher education and the rapidly evolving technological landscape. The curriculum aims to address the emerging needs across multiple sectors including industry, governance, research initiatives, and the broader digital society.
Undergraduate Program Details
At the undergraduate level, the university will introduce four specialized Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programs, each with an intake capacity of 75 seats. The specializations include:
- Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- Cyber Security and Cyber Forensics
- Data Science and Data Analytics
- Internet of Things
Postgraduate Program Offerings
For postgraduate studies, Lucknow University will launch three Master of Science (MSc) programs, each accommodating 40 students. These advanced courses are:
- MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
- MSc in Data Science
- MSc in Cyber Security and Cyber Forensics
Additionally, the department has introduced a Postgraduate Diploma in Cyber Security program, which will also have 40 available seats for qualified candidates.
Career Prospects and Industry Alignment
Professor Puneet Misra, Head of the Computer Science Department at Lucknow University, elaborated on the career opportunities these programs will create for students. "Graduates from these programs can explore diverse job roles including AI developer, data analyst, cyber security specialist, IoT engineer, and software developer," he stated.
The programs are designed to prepare students for employment across various sectors such as IT companies, emerging startups, government organizations, banking institutions, healthcare providers, and e-commerce platforms.
