Conviction Under POCSO Act
A 42-year-old man in Rajasthan's Jhalawar district has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping his minor daughter. The special court under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act delivered the verdict on June 29, 2026.
Trial Details
During the trial, statements of 14 witnesses were recorded, and 27 documents were exhibited to the court. The prosecution argued that the accused repeatedly assaulted his daughter over several months, threatening her with dire consequences if she disclosed the abuse.
Court's Decision
Special Judge Pooja Sharma found the man guilty under Section 376(2) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 6 of the POCSO Act. In addition to the 20-year rigorous imprisonment, the court imposed a fine of Rs 50,000, which will be paid to the victim as compensation.
