Raipur police on Saturday arrested an auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly kidnapping and raping a teenage girl in the Kabir Nagar area of the state capital. The incident came to light after the girl went missing on April 23, prompting her family to register a missing person case at the Kabir Nagar police station.
Investigation and Rescue
Police located the girl on April 25. During the investigation, the victim disclosed that she had lost her way on the evening of April 23. Around 8 pm, she hailed an auto-rickshaw at Yaduvanshi Chowk. The driver initially promised to drop her home but instead took her to a vacant house. He forced her inside and raped her.
Legal Action
Kabir Nagar police registered a case against the accused under sections 137(2), 64(2), and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused, during interrogation, confessed to the crime. Police have taken him into custody and further investigation is underway.
The arrest brings some relief to the victim's family, who had been anxiously waiting for justice. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken against the perpetrator.
