Railway Protection Force Team Executes Timely Rescue at Ahmedabad Station

A potentially fatal accident was averted at Ahmedabad railway station under Western Railway on Monday, thanks to the swift and courageous actions of an on-duty railway staff team. The incident, which occurred in the early hours, highlights the critical role of vigilance and quick response in ensuring passenger safety.

Dramatic Incident Unfolds During Early Morning Departure

According to railway officials, the event took place at approximately 4:00 AM as the Bandra Terminus to Bhuj train was departing from the station. A passenger, later identified as Mahendra, a 42-year-old resident of Surat, Gujarat, was attempting to board a general coach when he slipped and fell into the dangerous gap between the moving train and the platform. This precarious situation posed an immediate threat to his life, with the train gaining momentum.

Heroic Efforts by Railway Protection Force Personnel

Head constable Kishori Lal Balai of the Railway Protection Force, who was stationed on duty at the platform, immediately sprang into action upon witnessing the fall. He rushed to the scene and attempted to pull the passenger to safety single-handedly. However, due to the increasing speed of the train, his efforts alone proved insufficient to secure the man, escalating the urgency of the rescue.

Without any hesitation or concern for their own safety, they ran to the spot and joined forces with Head Constable Balai. Together, the trio successfully managed to rescue the passenger from the perilous gap, averting what could have been a tragic outcome.

Passenger Details and Safe Outcome

The rescued passenger, Mahendra, revealed that he was traveling with his family from Surat to Gandhidham. He had stepped onto the platform at Ahmedabad station to purchase tea and snacks when the mishap occurred. Fortunately, he escaped the incident without any injuries, a testament to the effective and timely intervention by the railway staff. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of caution while boarding moving trains and the invaluable role of trained personnel in emergency situations.
