Puri Police Demolish House and Shop in Crackdown on Illegal Liquor Trade

In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor trade, Puri police on Friday demolished a house and shop allegedly used for selling liquor at Rayachakradarpur village under the Satyabadi police station limits. The action was taken as part of a coordinated effort to curb unlawful activities in the region.

Illegal Structure on Government Land

Police officials stated that the structure had been illegally built on government land, violating property laws. The accused was identified as Pradeep Kumar Bhoi, a 40-year-old resident of Rayachakradarpur village. According to SP (Puri) Prateek Singh, Bhoi had been involved in illegal liquor trade for an extended period, with a history of legal issues related to this activity.

History of Legal Cases and Continued Activities

Six cases related to the illegal sale of liquor had been registered against Bhoi prior to this incident. Despite previous police action and legal proceedings, he allegedly continued his illegal activities, prompting the need for more stringent measures. This persistence in unlawful trade led to the recent demolition drive as a deterrent to similar operations in the area.

Coordinated Effort with Local Administration

Acting on specific information about the unlawful trade, Satyabadi police conducted a thorough inquiry and coordinated closely with the local tehsil administration. The eviction and demolition drive was executed in the presence of key officials, including the inspector-in-charge of Satyabadi police station and the Satyabadi tehsildar, ensuring transparency and adherence to legal protocols.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts by Puri police to combat illegal liquor trade and enforce property laws, aiming to maintain public order and safety in the community.
