Shimla: The Punjab Police crime investigation agency (CIA), with support from Kullu Police, arrested eight individuals, including alleged gangster Harpreet Singh, in Manikaran of Parvati Valley, Kullu district, on Friday.
Details of the Operation
The group had arrived in Manikaran on Thursday and was staying at a private hotel. Acting on a tip-off, Punjab Police tracked their movement and intercepted them while they were returning from Barshaini towards Manikaran. They were apprehended at Shilla, according to Kullu Superintendent of Police Madan Lal Kaushal.
Background of the Case
An FIR was registered against Harpreet Singh at Jandiala police station in Amritsar (Rural) on April 20 for attempt to murder and under the Arms Act. The charges allege that he fired at a person's residence to intimidate him for extortion.
