In a significant crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking, the Punjab Police have apprehended four individuals for their alleged involvement in a plot to smuggle a substantial quantity of heroin into Rajasthan. The operation, which unfolded in the border district of Fazilka, led to the seizure of 1.5 kilograms of the illicit narcotic.

The successful interdiction was carried out by a team from the Fazilka police, acting on precise intelligence. The police team intercepted a vehicle, a Hyundai Creta, which was traveling from the border area. Upon searching the car, the officials discovered a concealed package. The package contained 1.5 kilograms of heroin, a drug with a high street value and devastating social consequences.
Identities of the Accused Revealed
The police have identified the four individuals taken into custody. The arrested accused are Gurpreet Singh, Manpreet Singh, both residents of village Ladhuka, and Sukhdev Singh and Gurlal Singh, from village Mohar. All the villages are located within the Fazilka district itself, indicating a local network involved in the smuggling operation.
Initial investigations suggest that the contraband was intended to be transported out of Punjab, with Rajasthan being the specified destination. The police have registered a case against the quartet under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Sadar police station in Fazilka.
