Pune Worker Arrested After Family Found Dead in Well

In a tragic incident that has shocked the community, a brick kiln worker was arrested on Monday on charges of abetting suicide, following the discovery of his wife and their two young children dead in a well near Pabal village in Shirur taluka, Pune. The bodies were found approximately 62 kilometers from the city, casting a somber shadow over the rural area.

Details of the Deceased and the Arrest

Police have identified the victims as Bhagyashri Jadhav, aged 30, her five-year-old son Sarthak, and their four-month-old daughter Guari. The arrest came after Bhagyashri's sister filed a formal complaint with the Shikrapur police in rural Pune, alleging that her brother-in-law, Raju Jadhav, had harassed his wife and frequently quarreled with her, which may have driven her to take such a drastic step.

Family Background and Incident Timeline

According to officers, the Jadhav family originally hailed from Buldhana district and had been residing in Pabal for the past few months, where both Bhagyashri and Raju worked as brick kiln laborers. The tragedy unfolded on Sunday morning when a domestic dispute erupted between the couple over an unspecified issue.

In a fit of rage, Bhagyashri reportedly left their home with her two children, taking along her son's bicycle. When she failed to return by the afternoon, Raju initiated a search. He soon discovered his son's bicycle and his wife's chappals near a well located on a farm some distance from their residence.

Discovery of the Bodies and Police Response

Upon checking the well, Raju spotted his infant daughter's body floating in the water. He immediately alerted local residents and the police, who swiftly responded to the scene. After an extensive search, the bodies of Bhagyashri and her son Sarthak were also retrieved from the well, confirming the grim fate of the entire family.

An officer from the Shikrapur police stated, "We arrested Raju Jadhav on the charge of suicide abetment based on the complaint filed by the victim's sister, who alleged ongoing harassment and quarrels. Our investigation into the matter is currently underway to determine the full circumstances leading to this heartbreaking incident."

Ongoing Investigation and Community Impact

The police are thoroughly investigating the case to uncover any underlying factors, such as domestic violence or financial struggles, that might have contributed to the tragedy. This incident has highlighted the vulnerabilities faced by migrant workers in rural areas and underscores the need for better support systems to address domestic issues before they escalate to such devastating outcomes.

As the community mourns the loss of three lives, authorities are urging anyone experiencing similar distress to seek help through available channels to prevent such tragedies in the future.
