Pune Woman Arrested After Minor Nephew's Truck Crash Injures Three
In a shocking incident in Pune, the Kalewadi police have taken decisive action by arresting a woman for permitting her 17-year-old nephew to operate a mini-truck, leading to a severe accident that resulted in multiple injuries. The crash, which occurred on Sunday in the Rahatani area, saw the vehicle collide with six other vehicles, causing harm to three individuals.
Details of the Accident and Legal Charges
According to police reports, the accident unfolded when the minor, who was behind the wheel of the newly purchased mini-truck, lost control of the vehicle. The impact involved three cars, an autorickshaw, and two motorcycles, creating a scene of chaos and damage. A 35-year-old fabricator, who sustained injuries in the collision, promptly filed a formal complaint with the authorities, prompting the investigation.
Sub-inspector Balaji Mete of the Kalewadi police provided insights into the case, revealing that the arrested woman operates a sand supply business and had recently acquired the mini-truck for her commercial activities. "On Sunday morning, her nephew took the wheel of the mini-truck. He, however, lost control of the vehicle and hit six vehicles, including three cars, an autorickshaw and two motorcycles," Mete stated, highlighting the reckless nature of the incident.
Injuries and Legal Proceedings
The aftermath of the crash left three people injured: the complainant, the autorickshaw driver, and a motorcycle rider. All are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital, with their conditions being monitored closely. In response to the severity of the event, police have registered a case against both the woman and her nephew under stringent legal provisions.

- Section 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
- Section 281 (rash driving) of the BNS
- Relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act
Following her arrest, the woman was remanded to Yerawada Central Prison, underscoring the gravity of the offense.
