Pune Police Launch Manhunt for Fugitive Daily Wage Worker in Brutal Roommate Murder
The Pimpri Chinchwad police have initiated an intensive search operation for a daily wage worker who is currently on the run after allegedly committing a gruesome murder. The incident occurred late on Thursday night in Ambewadi village, located near Urse in Maval taluka, where the accused is reported to have killed his roommate by cutting his neck with a sharp weapon.
Victim Identified as Migrant Worker from Chhattisgarh
Senior police inspector Vishal Patil of the Shirgaon police station confirmed that the deceased has been identified as Lokesh Nishad, aged 38, who originally hailed from Durg district in Chhattisgarh. According to Inspector Patil, both the victim and the accused were migrants from the same district in Chhattisgarh, sharing a rented accommodation in Ambewadi near Urse.
"They were staying in a rented room at Ambewadi near Urse. Nishad's younger brother was also staying with them. All three individuals were employed as daily wage workers," Patil stated, providing crucial background details about the living arrangements and occupations of those involved.
Discovery of the Crime Scene and Police Response
The horrific discovery was made when Yashwant Nishad, aged 30, the victim's younger brother, returned to the shared room late on Thursday night. Upon arrival, he encountered a chilling scene: his brother's body lying soaked in blood. Acting swiftly, Yashwant immediately alerted the landlord and subsequently contacted the police authorities.
"Our team reached the spot promptly and conducted a preliminary examination. We found that the victim's neck had been cut with a sharp weapon, indicating a violent and deliberate attack," Inspector Patil explained, detailing the forensic observations made at the crime scene.
Ongoing Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Police investigations have revealed that the victim's roommate has been missing since Thursday, shortly after the estimated time of the murder. "We have registered a formal case of murder under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are actively searching for the accused," Patil affirmed, emphasizing the seriousness with which law enforcement is treating this case.
The police are currently pursuing multiple leads and conducting thorough inquiries in the surrounding areas to apprehend the suspect. Authorities are also examining potential motives behind the violent altercation, though specific details remain under investigation as the manhunt continues.
