Pune Man Shot Dead During Dinner at Friend's House, Body Found in Nullah
In a shocking incident in Pune, a 24-year-old man was brutally murdered late on Tuesday night. The victim, identified as Vishal Chavan from Kolhewadi in Khadakwasla, was shot dead at his friend's residence. His body was later discovered dumped in a nullah near Donje village.
Police Investigation Uncovers Gruesome Details
The Pune Rural police swiftly responded to the case. Senior police inspector Vaishali Patil of the Haveli police station provided crucial details about the investigation. She explained that on Wednesday, authorities found an unidentified body in the nullah.
To determine the victim's identity, police circulated photographs on various social media platforms. Chavan's relatives eventually recognized him through a distinctive tattoo on his hand. The post-mortem report confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound.
Fateful Dinner Turns Deadly
According to statements from Chavan's parents, their son had gone to a friend's house for dinner on Tuesday evening. Six friends were present at the gathering. His parents last spoke with him around 11:30 PM that night.
After that conversation, Chavan stopped responding to their calls, raising immediate concerns. When police began their investigation, they quickly detained one of the six individuals present that evening.
Argument Escalates to Tragedy
During questioning, the detained suspect revealed disturbing details about what transpired. Apparently, Chavan and one of his friends engaged in a heated argument over some issue. Although the disagreement was initially settled, tensions remained high.
The friend later claimed that someone produced a country-made pistol, intending to threaten Chavan. Tragically, a bullet discharged during this confrontation. The projectile struck Chavan in the head, killing him instantly at the scene.
Body Disposal and Expanded Investigation
Panicked by what had occurred, the remaining friends made a terrible decision. They transported Chavan's body to Donje village and dumped it in a nearby nullah. The Pune Rural police subsequently transferred the case to the Nanded City police for further investigation.
The Nanded City police have since arrested three additional suspects in connection with the murder. Authorities continue their investigations into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. Police officials confirmed that their inquiries remain ongoing as they work to establish all facts related to the case.
