Pune Resident Faces Cheating and Forgery Charges in Rs 75 Lakh Land Scam
The Ravet police in Pune have officially registered a serious case of cheating and forgery against a local resident. The individual is accused of orchestrating a sophisticated fraud scheme that allegedly duped his own relatives and a professional realtor of a staggering sum of Rs 75 lakh.
Details of the Alleged Land Fraud
According to police reports, the accused reportedly created a completely fake acknowledgement receipt for a valuable three-acre plot of land located in the Ravet area. This property is legally owned by his relatives, making the crime particularly egregious. The fraudulent document was then used in an attempt to sell the land to an unsuspecting realtor.
The case came to light when a 60-year-old farmer, who is the legitimate owner of the land, filed a formal police complaint. In his statement, the complainant detailed how his relative forged the signatures of multiple family members, including himself, his brother, and a woman relative, to create a duplicate acknowledgement receipt that appeared authentic.
Police Investigation Underway
"Using this forged document, the accused entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a realtor and successfully took Rs 75 lakh from him," explained an officer from the Ravet police station. The officer further revealed that despite repeated follow-ups and demands for the return of the money, the accused failed to comply, which ultimately forced the complainant to seek legal intervention.
The police have confirmed that their investigation is actively underway. "Our investigation is underway," the officer stated, emphasizing that they are thoroughly examining all aspects of the case to gather evidence and build a strong legal proceeding against the accused.
